SCDA One Act Festival
Those Donahue Sisters had a ball in Pitlochry at the SCDA Scottish finals. We even came home with a trophy – 1st place for Set! Many congratulations to Michael for his stunning creation of the Donahue family attic. It really was impressive. The whole event was of a super standard; we learned loads; didn’t disgrace ourselves at all and thoroughly enjoyed meeting other clubs. It was indeed a festival! Could we make it again next year…..?
The Youth of Dingwall Academy were strutting their stuff last weekend having won a place in the Scottish Youth Finals. 4 plays were all performed on the Saturday night in the Dingwall school and what an evening it was. Kirkintilloch won overall but the standard from all 4 groups was excellent and the evident enjoyment of all those taking part was a pleasure to see.
On the back of this, the Committee who met Monday 21st, had discussion about how to offer more to, and involve young people in, the Club. The challenges may be significant but the rewards would be bigger. The committee are having a think about what we could do and if any of you have ideas please contact Michael and share. Thank you.
Farndale
For a variety of reasons this show will now be performed later than planned, so change that date in your diary to: Oct 1st and 2nd , 7.30pm; and note the venue will now be Dingwall Academy.
Rehearsals Tuesday and Thursday in the Clubrooms if you want to see what’s happening.
Pantomime
Allan Thomson will be directing the panto again this year though exactly which one is still to be decided by Allan and the Committee.
Auditions will be probably be held on 29th and 31st August but I will confirm this well before then. Rehearsals will start soon after and again I will give more details about the rehearsal schedule nearer the time (ie when I know what they are!)
If you want to be involved please make sure right now that you are available for the performance dates (and I would guess at least the whole of that week and the weekend before)
Panto dates: 8-11th Dec
Odds and Ends
Front of House at any performance will now be provided with a waistcoat / tabard type garment so that we can be identified (and therefore lynched if the show is poor) by our public.
Coat hangers needed please for the hanging of costumes. The sturdier the better. Contact Doreen if you have spare ones you could donate to the club.
Borrowing Book for costumes not always being used especially when returning items. Please do complete the forms hanging on the wall. Makes life a lot easier.
Rostra free to a good home – well any home actually as long as you collect. If you know anyone who could make use of several sturdy rostra get in touch with Michael or Fran. They are surplus to our needs now. A fairly large trailer would be needed to uplift.
Well that’s the update following the first meeting of the new committee
